PROJECTS

Items made for myself and by commission

LACE WRAP DRESS

This was a very special project, made with lace upcycled from the skirt of my wedding dress and lined with cotton lawn. I dyed both fabrics myself using Rit fabric dye, in my kitchen sink! I loved the floral lace of my wedding dress and I'm so happy to have it recycled into something I can keep wearing.
Fabric: Lace (upcycled), cotton lawn ($30)
Pattern: Hannah Dress by By Hand London

SUMMER PARTY DRESSES

A classic princess-seamed, lined dress  - with pockets of course!
Fabric:
Version 1 - Liberty of London cotton lawn ($84), cotton lawn lining ($14)
Version 2 - cotton wax print, upcycled cotton sheet lining
Pattern: Caroline Dress by Mouse House Creations

WINTER COAT

Funnel collar, oversize snaps, and leather trim on the front and and pockets - a coat is all about the details. A very satisfying and functional project to make!
Fabric: Wool-blend coating ($85), kasha lining ($40), plus notions
Pattern: Clare Coat by Closet Core Patterns

VINTAGE ROBE

A commission from my (very classy) grandmother to copy a very old and worn out but gorgeous robe with bishop sleeves, piping, and quilted details on the cuffs, collar and belt.
Fabric: bamboo knit velour ($50) with polyester satin details.
Pattern: None - copied from original

MATCHING SLOTH-PRINT SWEATSHIRTS

Custom sewing isn't just for formal wear! I made matching sweatshirts for the family, using the same fabric in two colourways and two different patterns.
Fabric: cotton sweatshirt knit and ribbing
Pattern: Linden sweatshirt by Grainline Studio (women), Finlayson sweater by Thread Theory (men)

PLEATED COLLAR BLOUSE

An example of a custom fit and style - a quirky print that matches her personal style, and a perfectly-fitted blouse to fit her short and curvy frame.
Fabric: Cotton poplin by Art Gallery ($30)
Pattern: Clara Blouse by Sew Over It

BUTTON-UP PANELLED SKIRT

A retro-looking paneled skirt with a super high waist and fabric-covered buttons. The waist is very fitted, but the skirt fits more loosely than a pencil skirt so is more comfortable - and it has pockets!
Fabric: stretch twill, poly lining
Pattern: Beignet skirt by Colette (worn with Scout top in rayon voile)

WOOL BLAZER

A classic wool blazer with a silky lining and a statement wood button. This was a labour of love and feels amazing to wear.
Fabric: wool twill, bember lining
Pattern: Jassika Blazer by Closet Core Patterns
